Web 2.0?

hello everybody,

Last weeks topic for homework was: what is web 2.0?

I looked at a few reference sites and i even found a pretty straight forward definition. Web 2.0, through its numerous definitions, encapsulates the idea of the proliferation of interconnectivity and interactivity of web-delivered content. Tim O’Reilly regards Web 2.0 as business embracing the web as a platform and using its strengths”    (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0#Definition)

At first the term meant nothing; it was more a term that alluded to what things may come. After time though it gained meaning and now represents change, and that the web matters again. The web is finally being used the way it ought to be. (http://www.paulgraham.com/web20.html) The link i just put on there has a really in depth explanation, which i will admit most of is over my head.

Web 2.0, from what i gathered, allows not only for people to retrieve data and bring all to them in a centralized and all but “autopilot” manor, it also lets users manipulate and add value to an application as they use it. This could be invaluable in the future when looking for or giving information. How will this effect me as a designer?….  honestly im still finding more and more information and just when i think i have this whole thing figures out i find something else that leads me to a different conclusion. i will continue my research and finish this off at a later time. (sorry if that sounds like a cop out)
